Mission Trips

Vilonia Student Ministries is an Acts 1:8 type of fellowship. We want to do what Christ did and follow where He goes. Just before Jesus departed from His disciples He told them:

"but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

VSM desires to carry out this Spirit-led and empowered command and vision of Christ by doing the following:

  • Jerusalem - This is serving where we are...Vilonia, Arkansas. Each year we will serve to provide Thanksgiving meals and Christmas presents for those in need, set up fun events on or off our church's property (such as a Back 2 School Tailgate, 5th Quarter, or a Super Bowl gameday event of Flag Football at the High School), or doing street evangelism with the single aim at declaring the gospel of Christ.
  • Judea and Samaria - This is outside of our hometown and outside our comfort zones. In Jesus' day, those from Samaria were despised and rejected by the Jews. He intentionally walked through these areas with His disciples to teach them and proclaim the Good News. Various ways we follow Christ to these places are by going to: the Bethlehem House (Conway, AR); Little Rock Compassion Center; and the LIttle Rock Detention Center (a juvenile prison), and worked on demolition and clean up in Joplin, MO due to the 2011 tornadoes, and have sent large teams of students to do street evangelism in Conway, AR and the River Market district of Little Rock. From 2012 - 2014 our student ministry has distributed more than 6,700 gospel tracts from Arkansas to New Orleans (LA), Jacksonville Beach (FL), Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.
  • The remotest part of the earth - This speaks for itself. Although our group has not gone to the hard and unreached places, we continue to push forward beyond our state further into our nation and the nations. We may send Bibles to be smuggled into foreign lands that are closed to the Gospel and where preaching Christ is illegal. Each July our youth spend a week serving with Voice of the Martyrs (Bartlesville, OK) - a ministry that serves as a voice to the western world about Christians who suffer and die for the Gospel all around the world. We have the blessing of standing with them and being a voice for them. During Spring Break, or in the month of July, our Sr. High have served inner-city ministry in New Orleans, LA, spent a week living at Fair Haven Children's Home in Covington, LA, or lived a week in inner-city Memphis, TN serving through Street Reach, did street evangelism in New Orleans, and a 5 city/4 state trip to evangelize the Gulf Coast.
  • I hope this gives you a glimpse into our desire to follow Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a group of youth to join you in connecting your passion for Christ to the nations then look no more.
